WHO ARE POBL?
Pobl, meaning ‘people’ in Welsh, are a housing organisation with a passion for community enrichment. They aim to go beyond just providing a home, wanting to empower residents, creating a greater sense of belonging and placemaking, investing back into the towns and cities of Wales.
Pobl’s ethos makes them a great collaborator for the Biophilic Living project.

With the Biophilic Living project being the first of its kind in the UK, residents will be provided with a new way of urban living.

Each apartment has a balcony with pre-installed grow-boxes, with horticulture and allotment specialists onsite to educate and inspire residents on how to grow their own produce. As well as having access to their own private space to grow, there will also be a rooftop community garden, giving residents the opportunity to socialise and collaborate.
With the Biophilic Living project being the first of its kind in the UK, residents will be provided with a new way of urban living.

The development is also going to feature a new outdoor function space ‘The Yard’ to increase movement outside of business hours, alongside a Biophilic Walkway which will connect Oxford St. to The Kingsway.
Alongside the apartments being affordable in rent, they will each be fitted with residential heat pumps, and therefore benefit from the ambient loop heating system installed in the building. This will enable lower energy costs, whilst also being clean, and linked to smart devices to help them understand their consumption levels & ecological footprint.​​
Besides these experiences, the concept of Biophilia will be running throughout the whole building, which is proven to impact wellbeing, enabling a happy, healthy way of living.
