An ambitious task that few were willing to take on...
The glasshouse installation was completed in just eight weeks by the CambridgeHOK team and is now ready for internal works to begin, with Amberwell also just finishing up the wiring of the climate-controlled system; the windows open and close automatically in response to temperature and wind conditions.

Cambridge HOK is a leading horticultural engineering company made up of 4 divisions – Glasshouse Construction, Vertical Farming, Horticulture Construction, and Energy, a truly pioneering company.

BEFORE
AFTER
The complexity of the build meant it took a great deal of planning; glazing panels, three metres in size, had to be individually crane lifted to the eighth floor, with wind conditions taken into account, enhanced sealing requirements .

The business offers a complete turnkey solution from consultation to design, construction, commissioning and handover.

We are very grateful for the Cambridge HOK team for taking on even their most challenging and unique project in their 70 years of operation – a glasshouse, at height, attached to the side of a building, crazy stuff!

We’d really like to thank the Glasshouse Construction team on our site, led by Estaban, for their professionalism and efficiency in getting the job done. They have now completed our Glasshouse and are moving onto an install at Kew Gardens!
