URBAN REGENERATION FOR PEOPLE AND PLANETARY HEALTH
The Biophilic Living project is being recognised globally! With our director Carwyn Davies travelling to New York, alongside Professor Geoffry Proffit of Swansea University, to announce a Commitment to Action at the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) 2024 Annual Meeting.

What is the Clinton Global Initiative?
Founded by President Bill Clinton in 2005, the Clinton Global Initiative is a community of doers representing a broad cross section of society, dedicated to the idea that we can accomplish more together than we can apart. Through CGI’s unique model, more than 10,000 organizations have launched more than 4,000 Commitments to Action — new, specific, and measurable projects and programs – that are making a difference in the lives of more than 500 million people in 180 countries.

The Initiative has a particular focus on issues such as Climate Resilience, Economic Inclusion, Health Equity, Humanitarian Response and Equality for Women and Girls, highlighting the extent of The Biophilic Living projects’ effort, with the theme of this year’s event being ‘What’s Working’.
“It is a great opportunity to be part of a global platform to promote the Biophilic Project, Swansea, and Wales , and to meet others who are delivering innovative solutions in the field of climate resilience!”

- Carwyn Davies, Managing Director, Hacer Developments Ltd.
Biophilic theory underpins this commitment as it seeks to address the clear existential threats posed by the conjoined emergencies of climate change and biodiversity loss; whilst improving the health and wellbeing of communities living in underprivileged, post-industrial urban areas.
Urban areas account for more than 54% of the world’s population producing 40% of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, consequently it is here that the greatest GHG reductions can be delivered. Biophilic theory, underpinning new and retrofit developments is a powerful method of addressing these problems.
We hope that this Biophilic building will set the tone for the future regeneration of the Urban landscape of the South Wales post-industrial region, and beyond. We are honoured to take action with the CGI, and look forward to discussing ‘What’s Working’ at the event in September.
